Manabi Academy Co., Ltd. is an education provider offering online learning for working professionals and job seekers, centered on business Japanese and interview preparation. With a learning environment accessible from anywhere nationwide as its strength, it serves a learner base of several thousand.
Training was traditionally centered on in-person sessions and paper exams, but as the learner base diversified, a digital learning platform for "anytime, anywhere, repeatable" study became essential. We launched an in-house platform from scratch that bundles video, subtitles, multi-format exams, and progress management into one.
None of these were questions of technology choice but business requirements tied directly to learning retention, operational efficiency, and the learning experience. A from-scratch build required a design that "satisfies them all at once."
We built all four domains — video delivery, the exam engine, progress management, and operational workflows — in-house from scratch, with Laravel at the core. Stable media delivery via AWS S3 and automated aggregation through asynchronous processing deliver a learning platform that never stalls for learners or operators.
