PlateForge is a specialist e-commerce site where hot-dip galvanized, cold-rolled and hot-rolled steel plate can be ordered online by grade, size and processing, then cut to size and delivered.
Online order intake, made-to-order cutting, instant quoting and easy selection — a platform meeting all four axes steel procurement requires, built in-house from scratch in 8 months — the story of that new platform launch.
Koei Metal Co., Ltd. is a distributor handling a wide range of steel plate — hot-dip galvanized, cold-rolled, hot-rolled and stainless. They set out to replace order intake that ran mainly on phone and fax, and the burden on customers of cutting standard-size stock themselves, with a new mechanism that completes everything online.
Pick a steel grade, specify the size and quantity you need, get an automatic quote, and receive the material cut to size — PlateForge takes the whole of steel procurement online.
None of these were questions of technology choice; they were business requirements tied directly to order-intake efficiency, processing burden, price presentation and new-customer acquisition. Building from scratch demanded a design that satisfies all of them at once.
Together with Koei Metal Co., Ltd. we built all four areas — online order intake, made-to-order cutting, instant quoting and easy selection — in-house from scratch, embedding steel-specific processing-quote logic on top of the robust EC-CUBE commerce foundation.

This foundation continuously produces business outcomes — order-intake efficiency, a lighter processing burden and new-customer acquisition — rather than technical metrics.
