Meguri is a dating app for the Japanese market that connects people by personality and preferences. It integrates age verification, identity review, real-time chat, and payments into a single product, offering a place to meet that users can trust.
The story of launching a new platform: a service that satisfies safety, match quality, and monetization all at once, built in-house from scratch in 11 months.
Meguri operates a dating and matchmaking service for the Japanese market, built around personality diagnostics and preference-based matching. Its top priority is letting users seeking serious relationships use the app with peace of mind, with a strong focus on identity verification and report handling.
The business model is coin-based. Extra likes, Super Likes, and visibility boosts are offered via in-app purchases — easy to start for free, while delivering a richer experience to serious users.
More than technology — these were design challenges tied directly to safety, match quality, and profitability.
We built four domains — safety, matching, chat, and payments — in-house from scratch together with Amela. On a safety-first design that keeps chat locked until a match is made, we delivered an admin console where operators centralize member review and report handling.
