GuruMaps is a food-service DX platform that connects everything from “finding” a restaurant to in-store “ordering” and “checkout” on a single foundation. It unifies four surfaces — a search Web, mobile app, table-side QR self-ordering, and a store-management CMS — through a single API, expanding with the Japanese market at its core.

Self-ordering from a single smartphone, real-time order reflection, cross-genre restaurant search, and centralized store information ─ a platform that meets all four axes essential to dining at once, built entirely from scratch in 10 months of fully in-house development: the launch story of a brand-new platform.

About the client

TableLink, one of Japan’s leading players driving food service and FoodTech.

TableLink is a food-service DX company that digitally redesigns the entire experience connecting restaurants and their guests. It treats everything as one continuous experience — from pre-visit “store search” to post-arrival “self-ordering” and “checkout,” through to the restaurant’s own “operations management.”

The business model is multi-sided, combining a consumer-facing store-search app and Web with a self-ordering platform and management CMS for member restaurants. To serve inbound-tourism demand and multinational staff, it is designed for Japanese, English, and Vietnamese from the ground up.

CHALLENGE
The design challenges to solve

The four structural requirements demanded of the platform.

None of these are questions of technology choice; they are business requirements tied directly to average spend, table turnover, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Building anew from scratch demanded a design that “makes them all hold at once.”

Handling orders by voice or paper slips invites mix-ups

Handling peak-time orders verbally or on paper slips leads to reflection delays and order mistakes — hurting both table turnover and customer satisfaction.

Building search, ordering, and checkout as separate systems fragments the experience

We built the entire dining experience — search, ordering, checkout, and operations — from scratch and in-house, together with TableLink.
