CLIENT
About the client

StockHub Japan Inc., which supports footage sourcing for ad production.

StockHub Japan operates a video footage marketplace for ad agencies and video production firms. It launched a business connecting 1,200 creators with hundreds of ad production companies, licensing 4K stock video around the clock.

Existing overseas services had rigid payments that didn't fit Japanese agency workflows. Fair splits for creators, flexible payments for buyers, real-time KPIs and an audit ledger for operations — a single platform supporting all three experiences was essential.

CHALLENGE
Design challenges to solve

Four design challenges behind the marketplace.

Not a technical problem but a management challenge tied directly to the experience of all three sides — creators, buyers and operations — and to revenue-sharing transparency — viewing it this way, we had to design from scratch a platform that breaks free from overseas-service dependence and manual operations.

Design challenge ①

How to continuously gather diverse footage

Consolidate creators away from scattered social media and one-off contracts into a single upload platform.

Design challenge ②

How to deliver high-resolution video smoothly

For 4K footage, balance bandwidth cost and preview speed while shortening the time to a purchase decision.

Design challenge ③

How to deliver the optimal payment method for each user

One-off purchases and ongoing use coexisted, payment methods differing by agency — a situation we had to handle.

Design challenge ④

How to build a platform that makes creator revenue sharing transparent

Manual Excel operations led to payout delays, miscalculations and audit difficulty, breeding creator distrust.

ARCHITECTURE
The architecture we built together

In-house from scratch: four domains forged into one marketplace platform.

After deeply understanding StockHub Japan's business, "Transparent splits for creators, flexible payments for buyers, real-time control for operations" — three needs we unified on a single platform: we built this video footage marketplace in-house from scratch.
