CLIENT
About the client

AcryWorks Inc., one of Japan's leading players driving entertainment/merchandise e-commerce.

AcryWorks Inc. is a custom acrylic-stand and plate e-commerce business whose main channel is the LINE Mini App. Fan-merch users, commemorative-goods buyers, custom-goods fans — a diverse customer base each able to make their own "one-of-a-kind piece" in small lots.

The business model: "complete ordering within LINE × automate workflows with AI × connect directly to production partners." Users never leave LINE, operations manage everything centrally in a CMS, and production partners receive data automatically — a design that must simultaneously optimize the experience of all three parties on one platform.

CHALLENGE
The design challenge to solve

The four structural requirements the platform had to meet.

None of these are issues of technology selection;Channel drop-off · purchase experience · return causes · production lead timebusiness requirements tied directly to it. A greenfield build required a design that would "hold all of these together at once."

If ordering can be completed without leaving LINE, fan-merch users can get their own acrylic stand in just a few taps
Conversely, redirecting users to the web storeDrop-off rate over 60%becomes the norm. A flow design that keeps users inside LINE is the lifeline of fan-merch e-commerce.
If photo background cutout can be automated, the back-and-forth with photo-editing apps becomes unnecessary
If done manually,5+ steps of effort on other appsarises, cooling purchase intent. In-browser AI must reduce the steps to zero.
If the finished product can be checked in 3D before ordering, the uncertainty of not knowing until it arrives is resolved
A design misstep leaves the anxiety of "not knowing how it turns out until it arrives,"Cancellations · returns · low-rating reviewscomes back to you. A pre-check experience is essential.
If vectorized SVGs can be delivered automatically to production partners, the manual tracing step can be eliminated
Keeping a step where SVG is remade by hand,A 2.3-business-day bottleneck after order placementnever goes away. A design that feeds the data straight into production is needed.

ARCHITECTURE
The architecture we built together

Turning custom-goods e-commerce into a "scalable foundation" across four domains.

With a cloud infrastructure and a backend split by role,LIFF-native experience · AI auto-cutout · vectorization + 3D preview · automated production-partner integrationdesigned for independent scalability. We built from scratch, in-house, a foundation that can "onboard a new SKU or partner within days."

EXECUTION
6months
Duration
42person-months
Total effort
Area ①
Native LIFF experience
Challenge
Fan-merch users expect a purchase experience completed within LINE; redirecting to a normal web page structurally required suppressing an exit rate exceeding 60%
Solution
One-tap launch inside LINE with Next.js × @line/liff 2.23
A LIFF design where photo → cutout → 3D → payment is all completed inside LINE
Area ②
AI auto background removal
Challenge
AI processing that runs entirely in the browser is needed, so users aren't lost to the 5-plus steps of a photo-editing app
Solution
Running TensorFlow.js + DeepLab in the browser
1.2-second, 96%-accuracy Semantic Segmentation with no server round trip
Area ③
Vectorization + 3D preview
Challenge
The anxiety of "not knowing how it turns out until it arrives" drives returns and cancellations; a 3D pre-check experience was needed
Solution
Vectorization with Paper.js × 360° 3D with Three.js
Automatic raster → SVG conversion, with 3D preview via @google/model-viewer
Area ④
Automated production-partner integration
Challenge
Eliminate the post-order manual tracing step (2.3 business days per item) and feed production straight from the data
Solution
Automatically deliver vectorized SVGs to partners via S3
Zero manual tracing, connected straight to laser-cutting in an average of 0.4 business days
